University Evaluations of Learning P.E.A.C.E
Independent evaluations of the book Frieden lernen® (Learning Peace) submitted by Departments Of Education of German Universities, February 2005.
University of Hannover
I would recommend this book because:
- It is very thorough.
- One can easily use individual parts (i.e. role plays) - therefore it offers quick application
- It lends itself well to use without much preparation or prior knowledge
- The conclusion at the end makes getting into the subject matter or rather reading it easier

University of Berlin
I would recommend this book because:
- There a sensible integration of theoretical background and practical oriented building blocks
- An understandable and congruent connection between the building blocks has been explained; school climate is concentrated on, and not just violence prevention, although this area is covered in a balanced manner.
- A very good and extensive appendix makes an effective application of the written material possible.
I would not recommend this book because:

University of Passau
I would recommend this book because:
There are many practical hints and ideas which: bring awareness to peace education; present exercises which create, present and train behaviours which lead to peaceful co-existence, and which schools in the systemic context are usually socially unable to create and develop.
I am less convinced about the pedagogical reasons (too undifferentiated) and the occasional absence of theoretical backup, which seems to contradict some of the examples.
Otherwise: attractive layout; good overview; copy masters possibly too left-brained.
I would not recommend this book because:

I would recommend this book because:
I will use this book for teaching the social sciences, so that you as publisher will later be given my evaluation in a distilled form and with public results, which you then may use for advertising purposes.
Otherwise: attractive layout; good overview; copy masters possibly too left-brained.

University of Heidelberg
I would recommend this book because:
- It is written with practicality in mind, is understandable and contains clear and usable instructions. In addition to that, it is written in such a manner that it is consistently "solution" oriented (not like the usual "problem" oriented approach)
I would not recommend this book because:

University of Hildesheim
I would recommend this book because:
- It contains very good practical exercises.
- The chapters are constructed with a good overview and lend themselves to being applied also in part. Therefore it is very appropriate for apprentice teachers to use.
- For those still studying it would need to be complemented by theoretical material which give reason to why certain lessons lead to certain effects (psychological theory, related research).
I would not recommend this book because:

University of Freiburg
I would recommend this book because:
- It offers concrete solution possibilities for so called class disturbances.
- Theory and practical application are connected in a sensible manner.
- It contains usable master copies

For Teachers: I would absolutely recommend this book, since it deals with relevant subjects of daily school life in a manner which is both practical and easily transferred. The material seems to me to be good for implementation and the reader receives m any practical tips for dealing with school life (a few of which are familiar, such as seating order in class).
I would not recommend this book because:
The theory is not represented with enough research data. I would prefer more references to pre-existing programs, educational and psychological literature, etc. which led to the creation of the program Learning P.E.A.C.E. In addition certain studies are not cited in detail which would allow university students to continue their research. Since our students must produce proof of research studies, which is often difficult material, I prefer detailed references to such studies keeping to the scientific standards of their term papers.
I can imagine however, using some of the exercises and material in my seminars, when the subject matter is being covered.
